Teresa and I realized we recently we celebrated our 3 year anniversary of being in the new house.
We wanted to send you a quick note to let you know we’ve been very happy with the house. Thank you for building us the house of our dreams. I included a picture of the landscaping now that it has all filled in nicely.
We have had people pull up in our driveway when we were in the front yard and tell us how beautiful our home is. It has amazing “Curb Appeal” one person told us. Another person said they watched the house being built and even snooped in the house before the doors and windows prevented them from going inside. There is no greater sign that you have chosen the right person or people to help you build or remodel your family home when your contractor thinks of your family as much as you do. From the start, Jay made an impression as he learned what we want to do with our German Village home remodel. What a Custom Home Build Experience Should Be
My wife Margot and I decided to build a new custom home in 2017. We had built twice before with production builders in a planned community but decided this time we really wanted a home designed specifically for us. We found Luebbe Fine Homes through a referral from our family doctor.
Keep in mind Margot and I have never built a truly custom home. We had heard the horror stories, so we wanted to be sure to select a builder we could trust. Our doctor’s experience was exceptional, so we decided Luebbe Fine Home would be a good fit for our project.
After meeting with Jay Luebbe, Margot and I knew we were in good hands. As our project progressed in the early stages of architectural design, Jay was right there with us, guiding us through the process. His years of experience in building and remodeling was a huge bonus as we weighed the various pros and cons of our design before finalizing the plans.
Jay provided even more guidance and insight as we looked for land for our new home. He helped us consider the not only the physical elements of our property, he walked us through insights to consider from orientation of the house to making sure we selected land in an appropriate area given the size and cost of our build.

My wife, Heidi, and I were thrilled with our experience building a custom home in 2020 with Luebbe Fine Homes. Neither of us had ever built a home previously and, frankly, we were nervous starting out. Jay and Kenny did an excellent job listening to our likes and dislikes, discussing how we’d use the house (like entertaining space), and taking us through a process to design a beautiful custom home. We didn’t know what design/style we really wanted starting out, but they did a great job by encouraging us to look at websites and bring pictures of what we liked so we could use those to drive the decision making process. Throughout the build, Jay and Kenny were very hands on helping us make modifications to improve the flow of the house and ensure it met our needs – even details like where to locate light switches! We were very impressed with the quality of the build and the thoughtful way they recommended improvements and energy saving ideas (like spray foam insulation). They take great pride in their work and it was evident as the home build marched along how excited they were too with how the house was turning out. We’ve been in the house about a year now and still say “I can’t believe we live here!”. We are very happy we chose Luebbe to build our beautiful home!

After 20 years living in a home that we built, my wife and I decided to build again. We are grateful to be living in a home that was built to last, a home that we can pass on to the next generation.
None of this is to say that the building process is not stressful or that each build doesn’t come with its own unique set of challenges. To that end we’re glad to have been working with Jay and his crew. Their talent and professionalism go a long way toward solving those challenges and minimizing the stress. Beyond that, the personal relationships we built along the way approached family status. They’re good people. They care. I think it’s hard to find that these days. It is my opinion that anyone who chooses them to build their home will be putting their family’s future abode in the best of hands. We are certainly confident that we made the right choice.
